New year, new ideas: What matters now {cross post from fishtales}

You know I like Seth Godin's ideas, here's another free book of ideas curated by Seth.

As we all think about what the future holds for us, about new directions and new challenges for 2010, it would do us all good to spend a moment and read some or all of the contributions to this e-book. Just like the old style department stores, there's something for everyone here.

My current favourite thought: enough. It ties in with my idea for Christmas: I wish you enough.

But download the book and read some of it first...

World peace by lunchtime

Here's a nice video I stumbled over today, an old standard done by an ensemble band that doesn't stink of the shambles of efforts like Band Aid in the past.

Maybe I'm just a sucker for Bob Marley?

Special girls to be grateful for

Saturday

very sad now

from the john martyn website
Heard this morning from my little brother that big John died yesterday

he's been a part of my ears for the last thirty one years, I'll really miss him.

Juli asked him to come and play at our wedding, he couldn't: but he sent some stuff instead, he was played off CDs at the next wedding and I doubt there's been a day when he hasn't been heard at our house at some time during the day, his stuff is on heavy rotation here.

Thanks John, it's been a blast. I feel grateful to have caught you once live [still sad though]
